Just a Question

I saw that the TheHIDFactory sponsor came online to post a response about a price. My question is where did the thread go about the guy who had the crappy install from them? Was this resolved or was it just deleted?

Hmm...i guess that was 2 questions.

My post was sent to HID sponsor section and they deleted it. No resolution, no apology, nothing....they suck forever and I will tell everyone I see with a bike to stay away from them. I don't understand why it was moved or why MotoHouston keeps a sponsor like that......I like MotoHouston but HID SUCKS!!!!!

they deleted it because most of the sponsors are "perfect". Someone speaking out against them (even when it is legitimate like your case) will not be tolerated.

Im just saying that if someone has a legitimate bad experience, we should all know! we dont just need to hear the "good" stories of these shops. its just like the movie hot fuzz when people just disappear for the "greater good". they only want you to see one side of the story.

They can moderate threads and posts in their sponsor section?

We dont delete posts regarding sponsors. Sponsors, however have the ability to delete if its in their section, and have had this ability, since this place started.

We DO move the posts to the sponsor section in hopes the sponsors will rectify the situation. There are just as many legitimate cases, as their are disgruntled customers who go blasting before even letting businesses defend themselves.

Maybe we should disallow the ability of sponsors to delete posts?

If this were Ebay, every sponsor would have a 100% spotless rating.

At the very least request some sort of resolution before deleting a thread.

I think it should go through some sort of approval process. Like a mod has to approve the deletion on good grounds prior to it being deleted.

If the idea is that this a "community", then it seems the thread and complaint should stay. A good vendor would acknowledge a screw up and address it fairly; or defend it and let their work speak for itself.

I think that if the accusation was unfounded (i.e., the person complaining did not have work done there at all and it's a set up), then the moderator and sponsor should be able to accurately defend that and possible lock the thread, but deleted the entire thread just shows me that the sponsor was more than likely wrong.

I could be wrong, but that is my perception based on the sponsor's actions. That was their call to remove it, it's my call as a potential client to take their actions under consideration. FWIW, I really am not a potential client, I just don't get the whole light thing, but to each their own.

I read your post, but I understood it as "in hopes the sponsor would rectify the situation".

I guess what I meant was that there should be at a minimum a "request" to rectify the situation BEFORE deleting. Not just leave it at the sponsors discretion, and they can delete it at will, while the customer that got bad service continues to just "hope".

Maybe i just misunderstood. Either way, hope it gets resolved.

At this point there is nothing they can do to rectifiy the situation except to do a refund. We all know that is not going to happen. I had the work redone elsewhere because I would never let them touch my bike again. The work they did was not correct and was a safety hazard. They know who I am because I am sure they don't drop bikes everyday, so my dropped bike should have had a lasting thought in their memory. The pictures of the work they did should have added more and the length of time it took them to replace my mirrors should have been even more of a reminder of who I am. They have my information but they will not call me. Their unwillingness to take my calls is proof that they don't have the customers best interest at heart. Forget HID. I will just repost my pictures periodically and let everyone know what kind of work they do. I kept my original post so look for it to reappear from time to time. I will get the word out.

On another forum I was on, they had a sections just for complaints with shops. They did not have to be a sponsor but a section for people to voice there issues with vendors in general. These posts were monitored and deleted if they appeared to not be valid. If it was a sponsor on the site they had a chance to voice their opinion or facts and try to resolve the situation. The one thing they did do, is before the post was put in that section a MOD had to approve the original post. It worked pretty well, and had some ugly situations resolved. The forum eventually closed due to vendors started to do the right things or the poster had no evidence that there was really a situation. I liked the approval process so the vendor did not get bashed due to someone losing their temper and not thinking about the situation and how they acted at the time.

I like this idea Reviews of sponsors are worthless if the only ones allowed are the good ones.
