Emergency vehicles and such would need to have the extra speed for ...well emergencies.

but there's literally zero reason why our motorcycles / exotic cars should be able to hit 150+ on public roads.

and what if you want to hit the track ? well sign a waiver, and just allow tracks to disable the limiters, turn them back on when they leave.

And double the fines/ punishment for anyone who might illegally mod their vehicles to run over 100mph on the streets.

i bet it would save hundreds...prob thousands of lives a year in the US.

or maybe i'm just a Communist thoughts ???
I think there should be a limit on dancing

What i actually said was the exact opposite. The true exotics are not limited.

MB and BMW came to a handshake agreement about 10 years ago or so to stop trying to produce faster and faster sedans. Either of them could make a 200MPH sedan if they wanted to, but they agreed to stop the cold war and cap them at 250KPH. Many manufacturers followed in their path, but not all.

Not quite. The Z-rating means "unlimited" or "as fast as the CAR will go". In virtually all cases that is over 170, but that doesnt mean it always will be. There used to be cars that came on Z rated tires that wouldnt break 150 if you threw them out of an airplane.

They dont. They fall into the "exotic" category. Unless Lamborghini has sharply ramped up production, they're hardly mass-produced.

1. When i'm passing a semi on a two lane country road, i want to get past him as quickly as possible...especially if I misjudge oncoming traffic In that situtation, I have been above 90.

2. Maybe I'm being chased by drunk rednecks and not the police...maybe I don't want to be limited to 85 mph in that situation.

3. sometimes its fun to go fast.

Good job genius. My 99 2.5L Ranger could do over 100. From what I understand several current model Chevy full size trucks also top out at 90. You have just further proven the fact that you like to talk out your . Thats outdated info. There are two speed ratings beyond Z: Y and W. They've been added. However, Z was never "unlimited" it was always "149 or faster" but at the time there really wasn't anything faster.

Most people are very liberal (as are the ideas you're suggesting in this thread) in college. Then they finally get in the real world and realize that the government tells them what to do too much, and takes too much of their money to do it.

Been outta college 6 years, so while i'm young, i'm not at all a crazy liberal. I just think it's ridiculous to allow machinary that can go 150 + mph. on public roads where innocent ppl can be killed. that was my question and i enjoyed the responses from others . and i do realize ppl get when the gov. tries to "Tell them what they can/ cannot do"

But to me pyro sounds like a jack after he "gets me" saying his ford can go over 100... i was just quoting someone else saying there's maxes at 89.
and i'd love to hear his idea of a non "stupid fuking thread"
it's motorcycle realated. if u don't wanna talk about it, ignore it.

i've enjoyed the 4 plus pages of discussion. i bet someothers have also.

You sure about that? Because this concept is one heavily espoused by the liberal camp in ALL areas. The idea that people can't control themselves so the government should do it for them. Whether it be guns, cars, bikes, food, or power tools. Its all VERY scary stuff as far as I'm concerned.

Sarcasm, by using a extreme point I show that this type of attitude applies to everything, guns, speed limit, food limit, mpg limit, etc so you have to decide, you want all your decision made for you or none? Do you want to be sheltered and limited or free and possible killed by 150 mph motorcycle? I go with free, if he kills me its not like it matters after the fact.
