Why don't cars/motorcycles come with top speed limiters from factory?

I'll play devil's advocate to many speed demons on here... why don't cars and motorcycles top out at 90 -95 mph for ALL factory produced vehicles? it would seem to limit high speed chaos on roads, allow police to keep chases safer, etc.

Emergency vehicles and such would need to have the extra speed for ...well emergencies.

but there's literally zero reason why our motorcycles / exotic cars should be able to hit 150+ on public roads.

and what if you want to hit the track ? well sign a waiver, and just allow tracks to disable the limiters, turn them back on when they leave.

And double the fines/ punishment for anyone who might illegally mod their vehicles to run over 100mph on the streets.

i bet it would save hundreds...prob thousands of lives a year in the US.

or maybe i'm just a Communist thoughts ???

I know my truck was limited to right at 100 or so from the factory, but not after my tune.. Why do you wanna act like the goverment, and california, and try to make all these dumbass laws? U can kill someone just as bad at 95 mph as a 150.. So why would you even ask something like this?

If people are gonna run, then there is nothing thats gonna stop them. People will still get killed.

Think about this.. If there were higher speed limits in america, and more training for drivers. Would people learn how to drive better, and possibly avoid stupid people like this?

same with my chevy pickup. fuel shut off at 100.

disagree with 95 - 150mph. crazy difference. much less reaction time, plus obvious physics involved.

and i agree with more training for drivers. we give out DL's like free samples at Sams. me off.

If I wanted my top speed to be governed at 90mph I would have bought a ex500 and not a zx14

Dead, is Dead. Period..

If you wreck into something on bike at 95mph then good luck with living. Same with a car.. Hit another car at 95mph.. Its gonna be nasty.. That is a slippery slope. Who is to say when to stop? Why dont they limit them to the highest speedlimit in the coutry, or highest local speed limits? U see where Im going.. Once you let the goverment get their hands on something its gonna get ugly. One of the problems with this country.. They make new laws instead of enforcing the ones we already got

Was it being towed in the back of a truck or coming down a big hill

But no seriously even if they did govern them (which they actually do) there is ways around it ...

this topic is right up there with ammo control

ok, I WAS going down a SMALL ill, somewhere IN MEXICO.... but honestly, people under rate the 500. on a flat surface itll do 130 easy. the 250s will do 100 with someone under 170....

tru dat. 500's are maybe 60% of the cost of some 600cc's , but u get about 80% of the performance.

meehhh that extreme. and someone mentioned gun laws in this.

is anyone really and moaning that it's illegeal to have automatic rifles, Bazookas, etc. ? there's a reasonable limit.

it just seems strange that some exotic cars are limited to 155...what's the Fing point of that?
