Accident........

Motorcycle Plows Into Group Of Teens

POSTED: 7:56 am PDT June 29, 2006
UPDATED: 9:42 am PDT June 29, 2006

BONNEY LAKE, Wash. -- Several teenagers are recovering this morning after a motorcyclist plowed into them while they were standing on the side of a road Wednesday night, reported KIRO 7 Eyewitness News.

The accident happened near Bonney Lake on 112th Street East.

The teenagers were talking to someone in a car that was parked off the road when a motorcycle ran into them.

“He managed to go over the top of seven kids ages 13 to 15 years old, and six of them are at area hospitals,” said Pierce County Sheriff's Department spokesman Ed Troyer.

Neighbors said two of the injured teens were on bikes when the motorcyclist slammed into them.

According to police, the 25-year old motorcyclist was traveling in excess of 100 mph and passing vehicles when he swerved to go around a car and ran into the kids.

“The motorcyclist was going at a high rate of speed, driving recklessly and passing numerous vehicles, and instead of rear-ending a vehicle, he went up the road and hit the group of kids that were standing on the side of the road,” said Troyer.

Investigators said about 300 feet of skid marks were left on the pavement.

Two damaged bicycles are still near the scene of last night's accident.

“At this point no drugs or alcohol were used, but the rider of the motorcycle was just driving recklessly,” said Troyer.

Police said the motorcyclist faces numerous criminal charges.
