Parking in Downtown Houston?

Hey guys,
I want to ride my bike to work in Downtown but I have no idea where to park!!

I currently work at the Centerpoint Energy building on Louisiana and Dallas. I park my car at the Regency Garage, but they said they don't allow bikes. Does anybody have any idea where I can park?

Thanks!

You can park in any pay lot - if I were you I would choose one with an attendant. I WOULDN'T under any circumstances, park on the street.

I can't believe they don't allow bikes to park in their garage. Somehow that's discrimination.

Oh - yes, I ride downtown everyday to school. I do park in the garage, but there are always bikes parked at the meters or in the pay lots.

You can park in Tranquility or Two Shell, I think both of them are like $10/day.

PARK UNDERGROUND in the theatre district....under the park. Then walk the Tunnel to the CenterPoint building...I see bikes in there all the time....it will be a 1/2 mile walk though...at least the tunnels have AC.

I am still searching for a good/safe cheap spot... Most garages want $18/day! Thought I found a great spot on 787 Caroline St. I parked my bike there (in the exact same spot as the blue bike pictured in google maps) and while I was walking away I said hello to a person who appeared to be one of the security guards who was walking to into the building from lunch… Anyway he asked if I worked in the building or if I was a Marine and I politely said no and that is when he informed me that it was a Federal building and that only Federal employees or Marines were allowed to park there (Even though there was no signage stating otherwise)… Oh well so I turned around and got back on my bike and proceeded to look for another spot… It was ashame since it was such a great spot!

So I am still looking. :-(

How does the garage not allow bikes? Do you scan a card to get in? I'd try to talk to a manager about that.

You could park in most garages downtown and then drive around the gate if it's not manned.

The exxon garage (between Travis and Milam, south of Bell) used to charge $1.00 a day, about 5 years ago. There is (was?) a small section on the north side, ground floor, in view of the attendants, where you paid the attendant in cash for your bike. Permits for Exxon employees were $15 a month. There were never more than 6-7 bikes in the 20 spots available.

I'd just stop in and ask the guys in the garage. I also saw 10 or so bikes parked 2 blocks north of the Exxon building, in a white garage, ground floor.

broadcasting where you park during the day on MH may not be the safest thing to do buddy.

the Ampco parking allows bikes. They have a sign that says No motorcycles but it is not inforced. There are three locations. One is at the wells fargo plaza, and another is at louisiana at clay

"loud pipes" are what they don't want, so as long as you don't they give you no problems

if your parking there daily, you really need to go for monthly parking. it usually runs about 100 to 150 per month.

Even though the bad guys can drive around downtown and see where people park their bikes...it might be safer to send me an IM... Thanks everyone!

I park in the garage above Papas BBQ off Smith and Lamar. My work pays for my parking though. They have dedicated motorcycle parking in there.

Guys there are thousands of bikes downtown. Thieves do not need to read these boards to find a bike to steal down there.
