On a side note......
Where and what beginners start off on has to do with how they are as a person and past experiences relating to bikes......I think if the persons never ridden a motorized bike in their life before should start on something not street legal like a little dirtbike or something like that. Im not saying they need to go out and buy one first but at least ride one a few times and get a feel for it at the least....IT also depends on their maturity level and their perception of speed. Fast to some people isnt fast to others......

+1 If I had full gear I would wear it to save my skin all the time, It's not just for the track

So you're actively encouraging people to NOT wear the best safety gear possible because they might be encouraged to use it? This defies logic.

It may even be too fast for the street period. Beginners should get 250 sport bikes and that is that. Knowing that in a mater of seconds I can be well over 80mph is scary. It takes a very small twist of the wrist. I also know that the YZF600r is one of the slower 600s, I can't imagine what a new 600 must ride like.
Thanks for posting on this old thread

I can see the point PAN is making. Knee sliders arent there to protect you, only there to protect the suit.

Not saying I agree or disagree, but stating it makes sense. But on the other hand, this is why you can get 2 piece suits, without the puck attachment.

and that's all i'm saying. bottom line you should not need knee pucks for street riding. unless of course you're riding dangerously.
