Got pulled over, question about fines

I haven't rode in a couple weeks so when I finally got to ride today I went a little retarded.

I was on the beltway which I rarely ever ride on but I was running a little late. I went through the EZ tag without paying. Everything was cool, no cops or anything. About a mile down the road the traffic was real light and there was a good straight away so I started doing a stand up, Nothing too long, probably about a 1/4 mile. I sit it down and turn around, no cops. About a mile down the road I turn around again and two cops were right behind me. I pulled over right away and was hoping they would cut me a break which they did.

When they talked to me they knew I ran through the toll and saw the wheelie. I happened to edge over to the shoulder and had to lean it back on the freeway and they saw everything. I don't know where they came from, I looked before and after the wheelie and saw no cops. ninja cops.

They wrote me for failure to pay the toll and driving on the shoulder. Anybody know what the fines and points for those are?

PS If two guys on bikes passed a pulled over red 10R, that was me.

You got a massive break. I would just look on the agency's website to try and find the fines.

driving on the shoulder is $250 and running the tollway is $100. The fine schedule changes sometimes, but you can take all the guess work out of it and call 311 and ask them since they would know.

If you want real advice... David S Sprecher (713)639-2600

I take it he is a lawyer? If so I might give him a call and if anything can be done regarding points.

Thanks

Sprecher will make you go to court a few times but odds are good the tickets will get dismissed, or he'll keep em off your record. You'll end up paying $100 a pop, for moving violation at least, I don't know how it works with tollway tickets, but odds are he can get them worked out... as long as it's in Harris county, they don't do anything outside of Harris county.

You should be able to get the failure to pay toll one dismissed pretty easily, or atleast I was able to.

I don't know, because it's true? Unless your riding a Honda Spree, more than likely you're being a hypocrite.
