Are cruisers stolen as frequently as sportbikes?

There seems to be a Suzuki M109 fan club at UH-D. There are four or five+ parked during the normal semester and two or three during the summer. Today I noticed one has a rotor lock on it. Is it really necessary?

Just curious. Not that I think the parking attendants at UH-D are going to distract any bike thieves, but you can't get into the parking garage without a parking card.

I'd say no, reason being the sheer bulky-ness and weight of most cruisers.

my take on it is this, if I was a thief, I wouldn't want to put it in a truck or trailer and chance getting pulled over. That being said I wouldn't steal something I couldn't get away on. But money is money, so if somebody came to me with a big enough offer, my perspective would probably be I am always up for a challenge. But honestly, who wants a chopper anyway? Especially one that is not custom built.

I suspect Harley's are pretty high on the stolen list, years ago a friend had his stolen out of his garage. They ripped the garage door down, shot both dogs, and cut the chain holding it too the garage floor. Nice subdivison, middle of the block.

Don't know any stats, but my uncle's Harley was stolen recently. He went into a store for less than 10 minutes and it was gone.

I'd be inclined to agree. It is likely more work to steal a cruiser. But that doesn't mean they aren't targets. Protect your peeps!

You'll still he here?

Steal can also be a noun.
Used on MH quite a bit.

The deal with sportbikes is they are being stolen to break down and sell parts, mainly plastics and motors. Theives are getting wiser and pretty much ditch most parts that have VIN's on them, even motors. You can sell a mint set of plastics for upwards of $1000 bucks. Now sure they will steal a cruiser, but a sport bike is lighter, easier to move and brings a bigger profit, so what would you steal.

Hmmm... interesting opinions. Has there been any stolen cruister threads on MH? I don't recall reading any, but I haven't seen every thread posted in the past three years, either.

I'm not hating on cruisers - I started out on one, and so did Ween, my sister still rides one, as do many of my friends.

I just saw the lock and was curious about it.
