What's a Decent Dual Purpose or Motard Bike?

I've seen a couple dual purpose bikes lately and I'm getting kinda intested in them, but I don't really know anything about them.

I've seen anything from street legal Yamaha WR400 w/ street tires to a Ducati Multistrada 1000 at work.

I'd like to not spend over $3,000 so I know a ducati or BMW is ruled out, but are there any other good ones?

the yamaha is your best bet. I saw one on craiglists for around that price.

5" 10'

I raced 125's for several years and I'm sure they aren't taller than those, are they?

What makes you think that I'm a street noob?

Just cause I raced 125's in the dirt in a former life doesn't mean I'm a noob.

I have an R6 that I've rode for the past year and a half without laying it down for sale on this site:

It's not hard to successfully be a beginner on a 600 sportbike, you just can't be a dumb beginner.

I likes this one in black.. http://www.suzukicycles.com/Products...7/Default.aspx

It's about double your budget if purchased new though.

mekrew has a link to a website with motocross classifieds in houston.

easiest thing to do is buy a used dirtbike...and throw the motard wheels on it. they dont cost to convert to street legal...and they last forever

any 4 stroke dirtbike will do...250 or 450. hondas only problem is up until about 04 they had valve problems on their 4 strokes...not very good for long rides.

if you need any more info...pm me or hit up supermotojunkie.com or thumpertalk.com

they have great resources and stuff...HOLLA !

drz is slow and heavy...better off buying used and throwing the motard wheels, tires, and brakes on it. but if you wanna spend 7-8gs on a 400cc suzuki...more power to you.

here you go...helluva deal on this bad boy...426 is AMPLE power for the skreets.

For Sale, 2000 Yamaha YZ426. Runs and pulls like a freight train. Nothing worn out that needs replacing. Tore my right shoulder ligaments, grade 3 AC Separation. Going to be awhile before I can ride again. Kelly Blue Book Trade In is $1,800.00. First $1,800.00 to show up gets it. Test rides available but bring the $1,800.00 with because if you tear it up, you've bought it. I weigh 211 lbs and it will lift the front wheel hard in 3rd & 4th gear at my favorite track, the River Track at 3 Palms. I get a bad attitude everytime I look at the bike and realize I can't go ride it. So it needs to go while I rehab my shoulder.
