Any officer in a patrol car rolling anywhere off road is either determined or having a bad day. Probably a noise complaint or a violation of area code. Either way I keep the patrol car on paved roads. Leave that off roading nonsense to the truck units.

"Few people understand the psychology of dealing with a highway traffic cop. A normal speeder will panic and immediately pull ove to the side. This is wrong. It arouses contempt in the cop heart. Make the chase you. He will follow. But he won't know what to make of you blinker signal that says you are about to turn right. This is to let him know you're pulling off for a proper place to talk. It will take him a moment to realize that he's about to make a 180 degree turn at speed, but you will be ready for it. Brace for the g's, and fast heel-toe work."

Sorry, I'm new here but I find some of these responses disturbing in 2010. So what if the motorcycle rider was black, poor, or uneducated. The reason it made the news is that he was black, poor, and uneducated. A white or hispanic kid would do the samething.

Truth is, the kid was just a dumbass nominee for the Darwin Award and the police officer made a horrible decision to run too close.

I feel compelled to say you are the type of person in this society that is helping us spiral downwards. Why is it that you hold the officer liable when the chump and I dont give a rats what color he was or his level of education, social status or none of that . He was educated enough to know he was wrong and what the correct law abiding actions should be. He chose otherwise and injured others doing it, and you blame the fkn officer. Hows about we as a society start holding those that do wrong liable for their very own actions and quit laying blame elsewhere, we all know who is at fault here.
so sad indeed.

btw, it didnt make the news at any larger than anything other, didnt see it blasted everywhere and heralding his color or intelligence level.
