Thanks Grimace. The posts were a little out of order. It's easy to take things out of context on these forums.

...there are some freakin' degenerates on this forum. One week a gm of a bike shop is caught stealing bikes, another guy defends him while having "organized crime" charges on his record. Then that guy a couple months ago gets caught on a stolen bike and his buddy dies while running from the cops. Must be something in the water out there in the burbs.

I agree, but I would suspect that is part of why police harass people on motorcycles. There is a lot of bad people in the world, but seems that most any idiot can own a bike or steal one. I didnt see nearly any of this with the car forums. It happens but not as frequent. To be honest it doesnt suprise me at all, which is why I choose my friends carefully when meeting people on any forum or board.

Wow, been away for quite a while and come back to read this. I've met Joseph once. He lives around the corner from my inlaws. The only thing I'll add to this which is fact is that the dude isn't 115 lbs. LOL.

haven't read the whole thread but........

for those that think the situation is black & white you're way off base. Just because he pled out doesn't mean he was out stealing bikes.

In Tx there is no receiving stolen property charge so no matter why you're in possession of a hot bike they charge you like YOU stole it. We had a customer that bought a bike with a clean Tx title. Turns out the vin was altered to match the title & it had no motor numbers.

He said his lawyer put it to him like this:

Option 1 5-15k in legal fees with no guarantees that you won't get jail time & a felony record to follow you for life.

Option 2 agree to plead guilty to something you didn't do and they'll drop it to a misdemeanor & you'll walk with probation & a lot smaller dent in your wallet.

Yeah you're innocent, but nobody saw you NOT steal it. Anything can happen with a jury. You're being judged by 12 people not smart enough to get out of jury duty. If we loose, then we'll just appeal.........but that's going to cost another 10k.

Though I never stole another man's motorcycle (or woman's), I did some really stupid when I was younger. I have always followed a code of honor, even when playing dirty, but still believe that even if you up when you are young, dumb, and full of c*m you should still be given some kind of reasonable chance to prove yourself better than your previous stupidity. It is so easy to judge others when you don't know their circumstances. Now if I catch you stealing my bike.... I think that you are out of luck with emphasis on you don't want me to catch you. Laugh if you want, see what happens if you get caught (yeah I'm drunk, but you really don't want that).

Was he framed? did he know that something was fishy wit the bikes.....? did he associate with people that operated in blackmarket items? I think we have our answer...I'm not getting busted for stolen bikes..why not you ask...because I don't wit people that do that stuff...anybody buy any $1500. 2008 gixxers in perfect factory condition wit no titles lately? if the answer is yes then you are next on the choppin block. especially if you have a family you should steer clear of that type of stuff. ESPECIALLY if you have kids...I bet it won't happen again...will it..because you are going to do what you knew you shudda done the first time...
Oh well, my $.02, I hate thiefs and have no sympathy for people that run with them and get in trouble as a result. Victim? I think not.

if you read the whole thread, you'll find out that there were MORE than one stolen bike in his possession. Kinda puts a damper on your theory huh?

Option 3: Use common sense to avoid 3 stolen motorcycles finding there way into your garage.

Option 3 sounds like it would be the cheapest and easiest.

Perhaps you should read the thread and the court docs then maybe comment when you get a clue. Your scenario is bullshit and not supported in any way by the documentation.
