how do i get a bike out of my name?

So I sold my bike several months back and the person still hasn't put the title in their name, what are my options? I've heard some stories about people who sold bikes are cars and then start getting tickets and fines in the mail because of something the buyer did. Also I'm still liable for whatever damages the bike does

Hmm, not sure. Call the DMV. You can submit a notice to them within 30 days after selling a vehicle, but their website says nothing about what you can do after those 30 days.

https://vision21.txdot.gov/Vehicle/M...ification.aspx

Perhaps you can submit a notification with a sold date of nowish? You'd still be liable anything the purchaser did prior to that, but anything new afterward won't be your problem.

I would have a bill of sale and if anything happens it is on them. I sold a bike also and last I knew it was still in my name. It is no longer my problem, and I have enough information to prove it is no longer in my name, I would imagine they will also suspend the lic plate on the bike. As now days the lic plate is registered to you.

Tony,
Did you get a BOS? If not make sure you contact the DMV and let them know the date it was sold on and what date they took possesion of the bike. Contact the seller and let them know this as well.

I would imagine that you can call the DPS and they will suspend the license plate number, and if and when they pull them over they will tell them they are riding a bike with a plate that is no longer valid. I have document for all my stuff and date of sale date of cancel my insurance and more than enough information to back anything that could happen with the bike. Good luck on yours but I would imagine they can suspend the actual lic plate.

If not did u sign the title and handed over. If you did then there reliable for it its been of your hands, but it will still be good if you go to the dps and let them know

You even left the date blank on the title because you and I had this conversation about me not knowing exactly when I would have the money to transfer it.

You really suck for posting this....
Check the forms the dates are filled in not blank, and no I didn't know it was going to take this long. I expected a few weeks not months. Don't care if I suck or not I'm trying to cover my for what happens with the bike.

You were trying to be extra nice because you wanted in her pants. You were even asking her out, repeatedly. Followed her around TWS (Texas World Speedway), in your pink collared polo-style shirt tucked in the front, like a little puppy dog. And NOW, knowing she won't give you the time of the day, and never would, you want to be a about it and post this sh*t up on the board after she told you numerous times she'll take care of it ASAP?!?

It'll be taken care of either tomorrow, or early next week.

And good luck selling that POS Ducati of yours!! Maybe this time you'll get all the paper worked signed and done properly, assuming you actually con someone into buying it.
