Alpinestars are definitely top of the line safety gear, and there prices aren't cheap, but as your story proves....you get what you pay for.
A great product with amazing customer service

Glad you got a resolution. I just got a you (literally "too bad"). Worst customer service I have EVER encountered. Never again. I'll ride without gear before I buy even an A* sticker.

Pair of gloves started falling apart after 6 DAYS (about 70 miles). Took them back to the dealership. The A* rep was there, looked at them, and said "too bad", then walked away. The owner of the dealership looked at him, then me, and said "I dont believe he just said that". em.

I had a similar issue. I got a little better service than you, but i was still kind of in the end.

Had gloves that had wore holes in the finger tips after about 7 months of actual riding...like 5-7k miles worth...

Anyway, I emailed them, i sent the gloves in, 3 weeks later i got back another set of gloves. The ones i sent it were smalls, the ones i got back were extra large. So at least they made some kind of effort, but really, why even bother? I cant wear them and be safe. At least I recouped some of my money when i sold them on ebay. I never emailed them back to see if i could get the right size, because while I was waiting, I had some questions for them regarding other gloves.

Here was our emails:

"I currently have a pair of Vega drystar gloves that I bought a year
ago and have decided that they are just too small to ride in
comfortably (but my SMX-2 A C Gloves in a small fits perfect) and I
want to get a new pair. I'm wondering if the storm rider gore-tex
gloves or the polar gore-tex gloves are any warmer than the vegas? I
would like to get something a little bit warmer, but if theyre all
about the same then I'll just get a medium in the vegas again.

Thank you!"

They respond with this:
"You might want to consider full leather gloves.

At a similar price range of the Vega, you can have a look at the WR3
Gore-Tex(R) gloves, they feature full leather, extended EVA pads and dual
wrist closure.

Alternatively, if you are looking for a performance riding winter gloves,
please consider
the Storm Gore-Tex(R) gloves with full leather protection, PU knuckles cups,
Gore-Tex membrane, dual wrist closure, finger bridge.

Note that the Polar is shorter than the Vega."

I had one question in my email, 'are they warmer'...they do not answer that.

So I email them back:
"I dont mine spending $200 or less as long as they are warm. Are the
full leather gloves going to be warmer than the storm riders? Being
waterproof isnt really an issue. I wont be riding in snow and only
ride in the rain when I'm already out and just coming home. Right now
I'm leaning towards the storm riders. What I really want to know is
what are the warmest gloves you carry for under $200?

Also, how much bigger are the mediums? It seems like the gloves need
to be about a half inch longer between my index finger and thumb.
Right now when I ride, the bike's grips pull the glove back which puts
all the pressure on my thumb. Unfortunately, the local Alpinestar's
dealer doesn't carry any full gauntlets so I cant go in and try them
on."

They answer me with this:
"In USA we do not sell to final customers or dealers but work through a
distributor (Parts Unlimited) which sells Boots, Spare Parts and Apparel.

At this point, the best option is contacting them directly in order for you
to know the prices of the gloves you are most interested in and the dealers
that sell Alpinestars products closer to you."

Basically..."screw off, talk to these people"

So I email them again:
"Well, fortunately, you have prices listed on your website, those are
the prices Im referring to. It is fine that Im going to get them
online somewhere other than your website. Now, if you could answer
these questions, I'd be greatly appreciative."

Never got a response.

Cliff notes:
me-"whats your warmest gloves?"
them-"blah blah blah, were not answering your question"
me-"whats your warmest gloves?"
them-" you, talk to parts unlimited"

I've spent over $750 with them and they cant answer a couple of questions that would take 5 minutes of their time. I'm not sure how much their tards in their email dept make an hour, but im pretty sure ive spent enough where they have profited enough to give me 5 minutes.

Really glad the OP had a good experience, maybe theyve turned it around a bit, but I will not buy another A* anything.

BTW, I bought a pair of Joe Rocket gloves, which I always thought to be cheaper than A* in quality. They've lasted me almost 2 full seasons now and no sign of wear. I've also bought a jacket and boots since then, which if wasnt for this experience, would have also been a*. I'm also looking for a suit, that wont be a* either unless i find it used.
