How long was it since you last used it?

More than likely it is in a completely retarded spot..(think as much as possible all the little stuff you did that day (chances are more than likely you had a simple brain fart, and not actually lost/unrecoverable)

glad i read this. i need to go get a spare key made. I've heard you don't have to go the dealer like it's a car with a special chip.

any old Sears/ Walmart/ Hardware store with a key cutter will get it done?

I have done it many times. Usually, it's in your fairings or trunk. Take some time and search the good.

I found the original key tag from when I bought the bike new in 2003.

I just happen to be doing some diesel work on a locksmiths van(Rick's Have Key Will Travel). He was able to pull up the key code and cut me two keys right at my shop. Got home and the bike fired right up.
