Taste of Texas is off the chain, just be prepared to wait a LONG time because I dont believe they take reservations. Oh yeah dont forget to order in Medium Rare or there is no point in eating a steak!

The trick is to go early and put your name on the list, then go somewhere else and have a few drinks, then head back over and hang out when it's closer to your time.

I grew up in the area. Before Taste of Texas was in the location they're in now, they were in a location over where the Ritz Camera is on Memorial by Beltway 8. It was a very small, location, with a very similar layout. I've been going there since I was in a high chair. At that point, it was a quarter mile from my house.

Every year for birthdays and every Christmas Eve. The way this place takes care of their staff is second to none. If you are in school and you provide proof of your grades as As or Bs, they give you bonuses. At least they used to. They also give tours to local elementary schools due to the amount of actual Texas history located within the restaurant.

It's family owned, and has been for all this time. I'll put it this way, my father used to go to the original location as a pre-teen and order hamburgers. Service is second to none and you really, truly will not find a better place for your money. The serving sizes are plentiful and the salad bar is absolutely delicious.

do we have to show up on the bikes? Sometime I don't feel like smelling like gas and good old dirty houston air while eating.

I went to Del Friscos during restaurant week last year...it was GREAT. Excellent service, excellent steak. The Melting Pot and Vic & Anthony's are also great. *thread jack*

I went to Del Friscos when they first opened...had the salmon and steak...both were incredible.

I always recommend the expensive restaurants for lunch rather than dinner....easily half the price.

dude you should come out one day to salt grass on i-10 east im the bartender 3-7 1/2 off all apps $2 beer draft or long neck domestic or import, $3 margaritas and $4 wine. the steaks are C.A.B and the most expisive steak is $26 each meal comes with all you can eat bread, then a salad and a side order.

The salad: EXCELENT (cheese breads, salad with sundried tomatoes, cheeses, and that awesome cilantro vinegrette)
The desert: EXCELLENT (Cinnamon Ice Cream in a fried Sugar Waffle Cone)
The steak: OK

They screwed up my order with my friend so we both got wrong temperatures. We swapped plates which resolved the temperatures but I got a non-lean steak and it was grizzlier than normal :-\ The service was also not as good as we are accustomed to...I'll throw it up to the weekend but it was a little surprising. So-so tip for our waitress.

Regardless, I am walking away stuffed and can barely move!
