If you are a Texan living in Houston, you have to go at some point in your life. The steaks may cost a bit more but remember they come with full access to bread/salad and that alone is massively deelish The steaks, while not the best I have ever had, are distinctly Texan. It's an awesome place to eat...your stomach will thank you

I concur, if you've never eaten there...you need to do it at least once. And the service is really good.

Another unique place is Fogo de Ciao...

Okay those pics looked like serious artery cloggers. Like a heart attack on a platter.

mmmmmmmmm.

I might be down. Need to take Mr. Nasty out, he's getting tired of looking at my garage wall. Plus I love steak. Maybe.

Don't mean to thread jack....

Steam Boat House = over priced/crappy service/rip off. I've been there 3 times and the service just sucked big . I made formal complaints to the management about it. I took a party of 10 and it took almost an hour for us to get our salad and drinks, and then when our food came out (30 minutes later), half of it was all wrong (meat temps). The waiter then excused himself early and wanted me to close my tab early so that he could get his tip before he left, because it was automatic gratuity...The other two times I went, I had similar bad service experiences. Portions aren't big enough for what they charge. I'd rather go up the street to Texas Land and Cattle or Saltgrass. The history lesson is the only thing that's any good there.

Lubys got gross when they got bought over 10 years ago and started making "drive thrus". They reduced the size of there portions and started charging more.

REAL steaks can't be compared to Applebees, TGIF, Lubys, etc. That's like saying a Hyosung is the same as a Ducati, or Fuddruckers is the same as McDonalds. There's a quality to be had in a finely prepared and cooked steak...Taste of Texas provides a very unique, "Texan" experience

The deelish is promised at Taste of Texas

Fogo de Ciao's service was excellent. Some of the meat was just too salty though.

Fogo is NO GO unless you enjoy buffet service and ubiquitous feedings. Taste of Texas is a little more personal, as should a good steak house be

Taste of Texas also doesn't have the automatic gratuity. We went there with the family of like around 30 people. Service was the and the waiters and waitress got a fat tip from my cousin.
