Kinda let down today at TWS (Texas World Speedway)

Imagine this.. nice hot weather, a new set of tires, a bike ready to rip it up, and a nice open track. This should equate to some awesome tracktimes right? Oh wait.. the beacon doesnt work.

Managed to get 2 laps recorded in a morning session, and nothing else all day. My other 2 buddies had nothing at all.. So I got lucky, and I know those werent my fastest laps.

or get a GPS based lap timer like: XTpro, or Athon GPS no need for beacon and can download track data/mapping.

it is very possible that the battery may have been dead. sorry that you weren't able to get times out there yesterday but you were moving pretty fast Mark. you were running probably right at 2:00 easily.

Well. Ill just put it this way. of the two laps that miraculously got recorded one was <2:00's and that was in the morning time. I felt like I bested that time later in the day, but I will never know.

BTW to the GPS laptimer comment.. You can have all that . I payed 35$ for the laptimer I got. I could still buy a nice set of tires and warmers to go with for the price of a gps laptimer. Plus I wouldnt be able to use it cause I would be broke from buying it.

I wanna go fast. I dont wanna talk about a bunch of expensive stuff I got that didnt make me faster.

No need to slam a more expensive product, sounds like your getting exatcly what you paid for no? A component that must rely on another component.

Your praising a $35.00 expense and being it didnt work all at the same time. Small irony there.

Im not hating here man, just stating the obvious and yes i feel for the folks who get dissapointed with this problem.

Sorry about the beacon.
It got a new 9 volt in the morning and I didnt hear about lap timer issues until later in the day. We went out and checked it and raised it a bit.
I'm buying a spare one with a motorcycle battery for power.

I had some body timing me with a stopwatch in the wall straight. According to him my fastest time was 2:16. Not bad for a novice and first time at TWS (Texas World Speedway)
how accurate do u think it is to have someone timing u?

Doing good man! Thats about what I was doing my first time out. I would say eyeballing it is prob within a second either way right? If you impoved big time it would still show..

Im just saying that my XT laptimer is perfect for what I need. A $700 laptimer will do nothing but put a large dent in my tire/trackday fund. For what? Its not gonna give me more exp. As far as I know thats the only way to get faster.. Right?

thats a great time for your first time there. next time sign up for the class for some one on one and we'll help you get below those numbers with a little bit of coaching and line selections.

next time, try this

whether it's a battery, a beacon, a knee puck on your preferred line, or anything; don't be afraid to grab an instructor.
i will personally follow you around and tell you within a second how fast you're going....till mac gets back with the battery.
and any of us could probably tell you how to get two more seconds.
or heck, i'll sit at the wall with a stopwatch for you. any of us will.
we're your "mac toolbox".
use us.
