one more stator question

from what i have read it looks like the stator is a problem with the gsxr , i have a 06 600 and the battery will not hold a charge ,i put a volt meter on the bike when running and it went up , pulled the pos.. cable off when running and the bike died ,,
do most people replace the regulator and stator @ the same time ??

thanks

When you pull the cable off the circuit is opened, it will die.

If the bike runs on its own accord and never dies, then its not a problem w the stator or the rectifier.

A battery SOT(state of charge) could be low or there may be a draw on the battery when the bike is off.

If you want to check the stator, probe one of the three wires from the stator at the connector for the rectifier on A/C voltage. Depending on the bike etc it may have somewhere around 180 on each wire to the rectifier.

I believe it has to do with whether the bike/car has a generator vs alternator type of electrical charging.
