Really? This is the best they could come up with to appeal to younger buyers? The only time they ever get out of the box is when they hire someone else to design for them. To be fair, I guess they wanted this to stay close to the XR/Sportster look. Just not impressing me.

[QUOTE=DrAwkwArD;2544919]That's not all they do!! They have models with skulls on them and other "cool" paint jobs for the younger buyers!! Come on...it's cool!!!
rant
The build quality has come miles, but now they are using more and more plastic to look like metal pieces -- the thing that used to set them apart from the Japanese imitations (well, except for the reliability issue). And of course the smelly addict who couldn't hold down a job because he was too busy giving a finger to "the man," hating melanin-rich brothers & sisters, and propagating various mites in his facial hair. Or was that just all my neighbors growing up?

I think it shows forward thinking on Harleys part.

I do not think Harley is focused on the younger buyer, sub 35
Why should they - for the most part here is a buyer looking for high performace machine at a reasonable low price.
Why not focus on 35 and up were pockets are deeper, and performance is not king.
They do need to continue to improve on their perfromance as the younger riders do become the older riders and they will expect more from Harley and are not buy American oriented.

From currnet information The 2010 sporter is indicated at 79 Ft/Lb a@ 4000 and 9.7:1 comp
This 2011 has better cooling an 10:1 but is to be 74 Ft/Lb

I think Harley needs to stay with a V model engine for image or it would not be a Harely but they might be able to pull of a high performance V4?

They are trying but as mentioned above I dont think they are looking for a really young following.

Since they have soooo much in parts of course they are going to try to make a parts bike vs one-off model.

Good attempt on their part. Im sure it will scream w a shorter wheelbase like the buell.

As for Phiber, I've had the same experience when we went to get HD baby clothes for my friend's grandbaby. I told the sales guy my busa was faster, better gas mileage, lighter, cheaper etc and he was still trying to convince me one of his models would outshine it.

More 1950 tech dressed up in more modern clothing.

Ford should reintroduce the Eldsel and just put a modern paint job on it.
