Have you ever ridden before?
If your riding experience is limited I'd highly recommend taking the MSF course. Check the safety section for info on them.
After that I'd consider something like an 250 or 500 Ninja, 400 Bandit or GS500. Make sure to wear your gear whenever you ride.

Best Starter bike with looks = Ninja 250, most can be had for less than $2000

If you really want to ride, sign-up for a MSF. Then make a decision...
I want a ride for: Track and play, or just to ride here and there, or something to save on gas. Then you need to find the bike that best fits you or can be adjusted for your comfort and use. You can go all day explaining which bike is best for what, but until you sit on one that fits you and your needs..keep looking. Example... I got the Busa for these reasons. I like the look, but mostly I got for saving fuel (compared to my truck) and comfort of riding a thousand or so miles from everyday back and forth to work(4 mos and have over 5000). Plus I can still have the power to hang with just about anyone out there. If I was looking for track and play I would have got me a GXR1000.

:eh: because surely if it was a gsxr 1000 you would have been fast on the track huh.
