Cheap place to charge my car's A/C??

My compressor went out and so now that I have replaced it, are there any places in the SW area that can charge the A/C for relatively cheap or at good price? Also whats usually the going rate for such a job?

Thanks in advance. :icon_smil

charging the system is easy, the big thing is to draw a vaccume on the system to evacuate all moisture and see if there are any leaks. freon is about $8-10 per can should take about 3 cans and some oil, depending on your car, about $100.00-150 is a rough general rate for evac and recharge.

you dont have to vaccume it, but the residual humidity/moisture in the system may freeze like ice and clog the system. I know how to fill the system w/o vaccuming, what year make model?

the humidity will not freeze and clog the system, 134 will not get that cold without a blockage first to freeze the moisture. the reason you vaccume and boil the moisture out is so it dont combine with the freon and create a acid and eat all your ac lines. if you have an accumulator or dryer on the system i would advise replacing it too.

I have a cheap hose thing that puts freon in the system, I just didn't know if there was a certain procedure to go about doing this. Like if I need to put oil in there and what not. I already drained out all the old freon that was in there. It was a bunch of hot air but I dont know if thats normal. I'm not good with cars as you can see lol.

Not anytime soon with all this probation and DWI . I'm not legally allowed to ride it for at least six months unless on the track. I have to have a breathing machine on any vehicle I drive and there is no way I could get one on a bike. Oh well... Im good though.

you need to take it to a shot and have it evacuated... then take it over to joshs or my house and put freon in it... if the system cant hold 28" of hg then the system has a leak..... and the only way you can tell that is with a evac recov machine.. i dont have one yet.. but i will one day... when i have 3k to spend....
