(coming from san marcos) go south on 35 towards san antonio and then exit 46. take a right on 46 then take a right on river road. There are some decent turns but watch out for 5-0.. You will run parallel to the Guadalupe river..Keep going south on river road ask for directions to canyon lake. There are decent turnes..no knee draggin' and the sites are decent as well.

That just sounds bad.

1 : an intermediate state after death for expiatory purification; specifically : a place or state of punishment wherein according to Roman Catholic doctrine the souls of those who die in 's grace may make satisfaction for past sins and so become fit for heaven
2 : a place or state of temporary suffering or misery

ranch road 12 to canyon lake is a pretty pimp ride...

its also nice because its not a bad ride and its not very congested... though it is PERFECT in early spring

For all the hype on "The Devils Backbone", it's more like... "that's it?"

First time I went thru there I had to stop and check the map to make sure that I hadn't missed something. Not all it's cracked up to be, although on a Harley it might be a challenge at the speed limit.

Just an FYI... much better roads all around that area.

But, if you are traveling thru, you must ride it, just to say you did..

I actually live on Ranch Road 12, if you go down the road it goes left at an intersection where if you go straight it turns into Ranch Road 32 and that goes by the "devils backbone" (scenery) and if you go right it takes you to Wimberley. I wish I was there so I could show you around, but I came to Houston for the weekend :/
