Shifting on my Ninja 500 ?

Howdy folks, new to this site, but have been reading for a few days, seems fun and informative at the same time. sweetness!

I just got my Kawasaki Ninja 500 last month, had been riding my 125 scooter for over a year, great "training wheels", got enough confidence and road hours to feel good about get a serious bike.

I'm loving the 500, great feel to it, not INSANE power but plenty for the type of riding i'm doing.

It Red lines right at about 11k RPMs. I've found it comfortable to shift after about 5 or 6 k. But i'm having trouble finding a good range to stay in when i'm crusing at a constant speed.

3 -4 k RPMS is too low i think, bogs the engine a bit.

but over 5k seems to give a lot of vibration feedback. but it DOES give me more immediate power when needed.

Any suggestions? guys who have more powerful bikes. what revs do u usually cruise at ?

Thanks much!

lower engine sizes will have to rev up higher to sustain the same speeds.

if you can ride in the range of the torque curve cruise there. Otherwise, yes it will feel like its bogging down.

Make sure the maintenance is up and the valves are adjusted correctly.

I regulary cruise at speeds to cause my bike(250) to be around 9.5-11k.

I can relate to massive vibration issues coming from a 250. , someone on here with a 600 was complaining about vibration issues at 6th gear running 70mph. That's around 6k rpms. I told him to try humming along with a 250 on the same speed on 10k rpms lol.

I was just at the dealership and was looking at the 500s. I want to ride one to compare to the 250 and the 600.

EDIT:
Solracer is promoting his ride so much lol. Is there someone who wants to lend me their 500/250 so I can ride with them?

interesting...It's not a huge deal, just something i think u gotta tolerate with steetbikes. i wasn't sure if it was just cause i'm not used to such a powerful bike and just new to the feel. The first week i was having hand cramps cause i was gripping the handle bars sooo tight. just chiled out and that helped.
