Finally moving to Houston - info?

Well I received word today that I was accepted into the medical degree program I applied for. So I'll finally be moving down to Houston with all the rest of you goobers :icon_bigg

I'm gonna start the process of house hunting now and I only have a month and a half to get down there. Anyone know a decently priced rental house/duplex within 20-30mins of the Medical Center? If so please hit me up with the info. Any advice on what part of town NOT to live on?

Where do all you guys go to hang out during the week? Any bike nights or whatever? I don't really know that much about Houston at all (I live in College Station).

Soutwest area out in Sugarland and Fort Bend county is the best! Traffic moves good to run to downtown and the Medical Center as well.
All the backroads are better on the West and Northwest area. Goodluck finding you new home. I'd suggest you find some place where you can keep the bike inside a garage locked up. Don't move to close the the job, once they find out your nearby they'll never stop calling you.

But it's just as far as College Station so you might as well stay put! j/k

Nice places to live are either in my opinion the Fort Bend area or Westside Katy area. Katy has the new westpark tollway that allows quicker times into the Houston Metro area and Fort bend also has the new Tollway as well but getting to the Medical Center is mainly a 30 to 40 minute drive but can be quicker if you know what roads to take.

Thanks for all the suggestions. Your suggestions are pretty much where I have been looking anyway so thats good.

Los, good idea about the westpark tollway. I forgot about that.
