Stripped the bike - lost power

So I strip the bike (front/upper and lower) and notice some stuff:

1. Bike's was pretty much silent at WOT. It had sweet purr but now has a loud, (but awesome) sound. No need to buy a pipe IMO.

2. I know plastic should be light, but it now feels like the front weighs comparable to the 250... Weird, but I guess it's psychological...

More important I think:

3. I have lost tons of power at 6th gear. at 65-70, I cant accelerate. It seems to bog down when I open her up. Also, when on 3rd/4th, maintaining 70 seems to be rough power wise.

I have taken off the left and right ram air tubes that connect to the front/upper fairings and the vacuum tubes connected to them.

So I guess the bike is acting up because its getting more air in? If for some reason I wanted to go naked, how would I go about fixing this problem?

I rode my bike naked when I sold my street plastics. It sucks with all that wind blowing at you.

Put on fairings first, see if that changes your problems.

+1
The air intakes are there for a reason... not just for looks.

Additionally, the bike is going to have a much higher drag coefficient without the fairings. More wind resistance = less acceleration.

I will not streetfighter her YET. I am just curious to why its doing what its doing.

Also, it's amazing how a *relatively* small change affects the engine so much....

These bikes go through a lot of wind tunnel tests to make sure the aerodynamics of the fairings provide the right amount cooling and to redirect the right amount of air into the ram air ducts. I am not a mechanic but when i took my plastics off and went around the block i noticed my bike will get a lot hotter than normal, didn't notice any loss of power but i wasn't going fast enough to actually notice any change in performance.

i think it will look cool if you put some more time into it. kinda just looks like you took off some stuff that was supposed to be there, the gauge cluster looks like , you definately need something there. why didnt you get a naked bike if thats what you wanted man?

yeah, maybe what I meant.

Without just the mid-fairings on my 600 I lost at least 20 mph top end but the accel. over 70 or so was also greatly diminished.
