This is beyond awesome!!

F1 in our back yard is fantastic.

Most new F1 facilities that have to live up to Bernie's expectations cost a minimum of $250 million so I don't know where the money is coming from but it wouldn't be announced on the F1 web site if it wasn't a done deal.

It is a pretty safe bet that MotoGP will follow at some point along with WSBK and what is left of AMA.

I only hope that the owner/operator can make it such that us normal people will be able to do track days and race on it.

Austin gets F1/New FIA-approved track @ $250+ million.
Dallas is getting In N out Burger before the end of 2011.

Where is the love for Houston?

As many Americans know, Austin has earned a reputation as one of the Ďití cities in the United States. Austin features that rare combination of ideal geographic location and beauty. Its fine dining, world-renowned hospitality and excellent transportation infrastructure make Austin ideally suited to host and manage an event of this magnitude. Few cities if any in America could rival the connectivity of all the key elements needed for hosting a Formula 1 event as well as Austin.

Have these people never seen I-35 traffic? there can't drive for ! IMO, the appeal can only be 6th street.

This is great news, Only an hour away from my house. This type of track is almost identical to the calibur of track for the GP bikes, Basically the same rules for runoff and curbing. Lets hope this is true so we can get some GP bikes here, Can you imagine the crowd of people. Millions of revenue for the city. Just hope and pray it doesnt end up like "Liberty Motorsports Park"

The ONLY NASCAR that I get excited by as when they race at Watkins Glen (a real road course). Turning NASCARS are fun as to watch - lofting tires around elevated turns!!
