Spyders are not motorcycles, I don't care what you say

It bothers me when someone calls the Can-Am Spyder a bike. Bike comes from the word bicycle, meaning two wheels, not three. I also don't like it being called a motorcycle since the word motorcycle really came from combining motor and bicycle.

There, I said it.

The Spyder roadster is classified by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) as a three-wheeled motorcycle but BRP feels the term roadster fits best because the Spyder gives owners the performance of a motorcycle and much of the peace of mind of a convertible sports car.

And I hate the NHTSA

If you don't own one, or care to own one, what does it matter?

Let me run a few words by you...

Unicycle
Bicycle
Tricycle

Quote:
A "motorcycle" is any motor vehicle having a seat or saddle for the use of the rider, designed to travel on not more than three wheels in contact with the ground, and weighing less than 1,500 pounds.

Fine with me. There's other words for cars too. Passenger vehicles. Or you can call them specifically coupes, sedans, etc. Just don't call a Spyder a motorcycle. It's a trike or better yet a roadster. Not saying I don't like them. I think they are pretty cool and there's definitely a market for them. I just think "motorcycle" works so well to describe the two-wheel tandem vehicles that we love so much. I mean, dammit, the people who make the Spyder agree.

So a two wheeled motorcycle with a side car, is not a motorcycle to you because it has 4 wheels?

Spyder, Can-am, trikes, all by definition are motorcycles. Just trying to find your logical reason for an argument besides your own personal opinion.

Have u ever ridden a spyder? I test rode a few and they are pretty fun. They don't turn well under hard acceleration, believe I found out I'd rock one if I had money to spend

Wow. I think that thing qualifies as nothing less than a fagcycle.

It wasn't meant as a personal jab. It's just a scooter with 2 wheels up front. Why?

To each their own. I wont deny it looks like you could have some fun on it, just not what appeals to me.
