Why can't bikes just be free?

I know what you're saying (now). One thing to keep in mind though is that the maintenance also involves fixing the road itself which is expensive. Now the problem is that prices go up. You have to factor in inflation which is universal. So the county has to pay the contractors who actually do the work more over time and of course has to come up with the money somehow. That's the users of the road. Bottom line is, it is that way, the money has to come from somewhere. If you don't like it, don't use the road and find other ways around traffic. Not always easy but often possible. What I can tell you is that in comparison to other countries for example in Europe you're better off with this model for those roads. I mean the non-pay roads in and around Houston pretty much suck. They're third world standard in some parts of town. But how would you like to be taxed for your vehicle, based on engine size and emissions, per year? Trust me, not much fun.

But to get back in topic, if you ride the toll roads, just put an EZ Tag on the bike and be done with it. It's that simple.

yeah i get you, thats why id rather leave early than pay. i feel sorry for the people that use the HOV lane to save time then some dumbass wrecks or breaks down and makes everyone late. and im really glad i dont live in japan. they tax the sh*t out of owners for cars that are more than 2 or 3 years old for keeping them and not buying a new one. still think they charge to much though.
