Widow sued over husband's fatal bike crash

Teenage skateboarder seeks £25,000 in compensation over fatal crash

Posted: 19 May 2010
by Visordown News

Quote:
THE WIDOW of a man killed swerving his motorcycle in order to avoid a skateboarder is being sued for damages over the fatal accident

In February this year Visordown reported the news that Susan Honey was to sue Lewis Hart for "unlimited damages that will exceed £300,000", after the teenager stepped into the road in front of her husband's Suzuki GSX-R1000 to retrieve his friend's skateboard, in April 20, 2007.

Now Mr Hart is suing Susan Honey for damages of up to £25,000, claiming Mrs Honey's late husband was riding his machine too fast and that he was to blame for the fatal accident, reports the Plymouth Herald newspaper.

Father of two Mr Honey, 47, died after he swerved to avoid the skateboarder, colliding head-on with a car.

But Mr Hart has now claims the motorcyclist was riding at around 60mph in a 40mph limit, and failed to avoid the collision. It's also alleged Mr Honey was wearing an illegal tinted visor.

The case continues.

I think he was refering to England's law against tinted visors, not that this kind of lawsuit could only happen in Europe.

America is lawsuit capital number 1, remember the hot coffee spilll suit? Its the reason doctors are making so much less money, due to their high premiums on insurance.

I heard something about dark visors being illegal in France because they want to keep people from fully covering their faces.
It's really stupid, but it also relates to women wearing burkas... so here are some reasons, laws or proposed laws about "full coverage of the face" in Europe:

Covered face could be banned in train stations, department stores, fairs, and markets during holiday seasons. (In case that biker is a terrorist)

An uncovered face could be required in hospitals, public toilets, and swimming pools, where it is necessary to know the persons . (In case you want to take a dump or go swimming with your full face helm on).

Establishments that sell alcohol, cigarettes, and guns could also be required to sell only to people whose faces are not covered. (Makes sense...if you buy guns with your helmet on).

It seems to me like France wants to ban burkas for human rights reasons....and they're banning blacked out/mirrored visors in order to justify it.
