kawi has never really been a strong competitor in any class over the last several years. the haydens were the last of the great kawi riders.

Roger lee still rides for kawi and he is always like 15 or worst, I know there street bikes aren't totally the same but kawi is suppose to have a strong power plant. Is everything else on the bike that bad were it makes it hard to compete or tdo they just low ball there riders were they just don't feel like giving it there all

Kawasaki doesn't seem to put nearly as much money into their roadrace programs as some other manufacturers do. Speed costs money. How fast do you want to go?

+1 also:

A lot of the problem most Kawi riders are complaining about has been the ZX10's rear grip. There are rumors of a redesigned ZX10 for next year, we'll see how good it will be.

In World Supersport Kawi made a strong showing last year. This year J. Lascorz is doing very well on the ZX6R. He is 3rd in GC by 5 points, sitting at 115 behind Eugene Laverty 116 and Kenan Sofuoglu 117.

Also let's not forget J. Hackin, he was the only one keeping up with Mat & Ben in the 08 season.

They don't share the desire or the level of financial commitment the other factories do!
Since Rob Muzzy the WSBK effort has been pitiful for a major manufacturer with the resources available to it from its parent KHI.
Giving management of the WSBK team to Paul Bird who took Lavilla to a very unspectacular mid table position before his appointment sums it up for me.
In Vermulan and Sykes they have two very capable riders but the package just isn't right.
They use Showa suspension for goodness sake....

With their withdrawal from MotoGP I'm just glad we have Lascorz sticking the green bike on the rostrum in WSS. How long before he gets snapped up though?

You get what you pay for.

Riders, teams, parts, development, etc, etc cost a load of money at that level. Kawasaki has a good bike in both the ZX6 and the ZX10. But as Grinchy pointed out, that's not even half the equation at this level of racing (or almost any level, for that matter).

However, I believe Kawasaki's lack of commitment (thus, under par performance) had to do more with lack of resources (funds) than anything else.

I'd bet that Aprilia spends less than Kawasaki

Hm. I could be wrong. I thought I had read something a while back that Kawi was pulling their commitment for finacial reasons (specifically speaking about GP).

So with better backing and a better overall bike could the kawi ridersbe top contenders or are the riders still lacking

Nobody likes saying our bike/product/package is
the economy gave them a plausible exit IMO

Vermulan has all the talent imo but may be still a little shell shocked after his Suzuki motogp experience.
Sykes was totally overshadowed by Spies last year but is definately a quality rider.
Neither rider has shown any great development skills which is another component imo lacking in the team

I think it has a lot to do with the riders.............. that and as mentioned kawis resource backing has just gone down the drains.

Correct me if im wrong but in the past few years it seems like kawi has spent more on promoting drag racers like Ricky Gadson and even stunt teams featuring Jason Briton
