yeah start her off on like a ninja 250, 500 or 650, a 2 cylinder so it doesnt scare the livin out of her. get the msf first, so if she wrecks hopefully itll be on one fo those class bikes. my wife took the msf with me and lives to ride we just cant afford 2 bikes rite now.

yeah but she wants to ride with the group. so if i got her a dirt bike i would have to buy another bike shortly after she learns.
i would love for her to get on the 50 and but she says its to small. but im 6" 200lbs and i get on it.

brand new 250s out will be out in the market by the end of this year... nice set of options. (putting a post up for a new 250 in a few minutes MEGELLI 250) possibly the smallest power of the U.S. 250 group, for the road...

"If you cant pick it up, by yourself. you have no business being on it." that is just the way I feel.

when she has an accident will you be saying "I shouldnt given her a 600!" could be a sign. (even if its ok, and was something stupid, like a non moving drop)

Is your daughter mature enough to handle a HIGH PERFORMANCE car? if not, then a middlewight sportbike and higher is not what you want. (or need)

todays 600 cc's have as much power as 1K's did 10 years ago. they have the acceleration of a spitwad, and about as much weight.

My wife just finished the MSF yesterday, I got her a used Ninja 250, thanks Stumpy ..... she thinks she would rather ride a cruiser than a sport bike though.... we'll see.... I've ridden the 250 a little, it's kinda fun.

I wont let my wife ride......sorry but I just cant let her......she says she doesnt want to ride right now but even if she changes her mind I couldnt let her......Id burry myself if something happend to her.......It might sound wrong but Im not sure she could handle everything that could happen......Im not saying she cant handle herself but if that off chance something happend to her id kill my self over what happend......I want her to be able to ride but I wouldnt feel 100% letting her ride unless she had a long whiles worth of riding.......

Yeah, I worry about my wife also but...... she could get screwed driving her car.....or walking across the street... or whatever..... I would be more upset at myself if she were hurt riding on the back of my bike and I did something stupid and got her hurt... She's having a blast so far.... I plan on spending lots of time working with her now that she's finished MSF.

I would say go for the 250 to start off. Its a respectable bike on it's own, but also if she either wrecks it or decides it isn't for her, you haven't lost much money.

Cut a deal with her... get the 250 and if in a year she's still riding and hasn't wrecked, then look into selling it and getting a 600. By then she'll have a much better idea which bike she likes, she'll be able to handle it better and you can have better piece of mind knowing you didnt just drop $4-5k on a bike she might wreck tomorrow!

Good luck, let us know what you decide too.

I get where you coming from but Ive been there when shes been tboned before or whatever happened....its not fun either way......i guess its diff when its my own flesh and blood vs hers....... Call me protective or whatever but its still diff....and I couldnt live with what happend to her if something did happen......Id want her to get a dirtbike and ride it for a while before she even ventured out into streetbike territory......Shes having fun racing her car right now and im perfectly fine letting her get comfortable doing that.....

thats how i feel but but i think she might feel the same about me riding. So i gave in and let her ride my 650r and can only ride with me till i feel good that she will make it out there in this crazy town.

Mine took the glass about two years ago. I borrow a friends and she rides my 919. Really depends on the person. I will say that the helmet communication is great.

my girl took the class a few weeks ago and decided she wanted a 600 after convincing her to first: not ride at all and second: a 250 would be better. She ended up getting a used 600 and only rides with me. She handles and rides it well but can see her getting bored, very quick...i'd go with a 250 first.....

it all depends on her. I learned on a 250 and went and bought an R6 b/c I bought into the hype of "people grow out of 250's too fast." I sold it within 6mos. I recent bought a 125cc bike just to relearn again.
