Odd problem

Problem is on a 2006 Honda F4i, from a stop launching from first gear im getting a of a lot of bog, I roll to WFTO throttle and its like I am trying to take off in third gear. (no i didn't have a dumbass moment and be in wrong gear)

However, the problem does not persist in any other gear than first, and clutch is fully released.

Any ideas?

When you say "launch" do you mean like you trying to drag race or a normal take off from a stop?

Not drag racing but an agressive take off, (get rolling smoothly and roll throttle to full open quickly but smoothly if that makes sense). Also, I havent noticed the FI light on when it bogs down will have to give it a shot and see. Also this is after the engine is warmed, im not doing this as soon as it starts.

Same thing happened to me on a 600rr. Warm your bike up to running temp, and check if all of the headers are hot individually. (don't use your hand, take a wet paper towel and see if it sizzles.) If one of them isn't hot it means it isn't firing. Back the spark plug out and check it. Mine was covered in an oil/gas mixture. I cleaned it off and wrenched it back up, and everything now works fine. lmk

paper towel is bad advice, a simple bottle with sprayer (like windex or windex) will work...owning several f4i's, i'm almost certain it's the fuel pressure regulator, drewston or prodigy chime in here

You could touch it with a rubber duck as long as it's not with your hand.

dont get sensitive, spraying headers with water from a squirt bottle is better, safe, and you can actually see if one is running hotter then the other or not at all...

Actually if you two want to get technical, use a hand held laser thermometer! It tells you more than a wet paper towel or stream of water from a squirt gun!

dropped a K&N filter in and the problem has been remedied. curious considering it didn't look dirty at all.

My only other idea is perhaps there was a pinched line somewhere under the tank that is now straightened out..
