WSBK: Superbike vs. Superstock 1k?

When I watch WSBK, I know there is 600cc series racing, and Superbike -- which is the liter-bike series; however, I visited the site today, and noticed there is a Superstock 1k class?

What is the difference? Is the Superstock class actually stock bikes being raced on the track? While the Superbike is more of an experimental class?

superstock - allowed minimal mods
superbike - lots of mods

i remember hearing a commentator mentioning that you're not allowed to have things like quick shifters n such in superstock. shifting has to be done the old school way.

The Superstock bikes will have suspension upgrades eg. rear Olin's and upgraded fork internals but must retain the OE fork externals so no Olin's forks! Blue printed and gas flowed engines and thinner head gaskets allowed but that's about it. Full race exhausts allowed. Race brake pads and lines but OE master cylinders so no trick Brembo master cylinders unless they come as standard from new.
Race bodywork, control fuel, DOT tires and off you go

The Superbike class allows for considerably more tuning and modification although not to the same degree as the prototype MotoGP class

titanium hardware is not allowed in superstock either. Also, no relocation of components. Ergo, the new superbike R1 with the fueltank moved below the seat wouldn't fly.

and just and idea of the mods the WSS (600) bikes, they mentioned at the last race

Top speed on the longest straight at monza
Superstock (1000cc) - 210 kph
Supersport (600) - 287 kph

Those 600 are fast and heavily mod.
