Ooooh tempting.

Straight I-10 shot... that's gonna suck.
Or are you taking any backroads?

Although I've made the cage trek many times, I've never stopped for much along the way.
Just Googled and found this though: http://chowhound.chow.com/topics/414237

I usually make this trip every other weekend, and when the weather is good I sometimes ride the bike (my fiancee lives up there) The only stop I make is in Seguin and that's for fuel, because it is not the most exciting trip in the world. Just be careful when approaching Bucky's near Luling as DPS sits there almost 95% of the time

get off I-10 at Weimer and head south for ten miles on HW 155.

Turn right (west) on HW 532 and take it through Moulton to Gonzalez.

At Gonzalez go north on HW 183 back north to I-10.

HW 532 is one of the best roads south of I-10 in that area.

Hills and curves and scenic - honest.

My hometown is Flatonia , almost a midway stop between Houston & SA.
I usally stop in Brookshire , then Luling [ got lots of high school memories there ]
watch out for Luling & Kingsbury, you will see popo quite frequently in those areas.
It's a long straight ride for sure ,but you will see other bikers \ riders along the way.
