CRRC/CMRA Racer in Need

Hey guys and gals just wanted to let everyone know there is a benefit this Sunday for a racer in need. Skip Bradley raced with CRRC back in the 80's fielding several CRRC Endurance championship teams with class wins at Nationals Endurance events. A couple of trips to some AHRMA roadrace events started him thinking about getting back out on the track so he started gathering parts to build a Norton F-750 racer to go race with the old guys in AHRMA.

The Plan was going along till Harley dumped Buell. Skip saw an opportunity to get a modern bike for the cost of a top notch Norton race motor and jumped at buying a 1125R. The beauty to this was the Buell was legal in two AHRMA classes so he could still go race with the old guys. lol It was kind of the best of both worlds for him. With a new race prepped bike and a borrowed set of leathers it was off to the races with the goal of racing at Daytona on the AHRMA weekend. To be allowed to race at Daytona he needed to have at least two races under his belt. The first race was the February TWS (Texas World Speedway) followed four days later at Roebling Roads in GA then on to Daytona March 1.

On the first lap of the second practice session Skip crashed his Buell going in to turn one. He was hurt bad with very serious head trauma, five broken ribs, punched lung and fractures to both shoulders blades, both collar bone, both wrists, nose, cheek bone not to mention a thumb that was almost torn off. Skip was in a coma for six weeks. He was in ICU in Florida for five weeks, with his wife off work by his side, till we could get him flown back in an air ambulance. Skip has made some remarkable progress. Early last week was Skip was considered conscious with minimal awareness and this week he has started to talk. He doesn't make much sense yet but great to hear! Even though Skip has made great strides in his recovery the doctors are saying it will take a year minimum and could be much longer. With Skip being self-employed one man band his wife and four girls are going to needs some help till he's back on his feet.

So please if you can, come help a racer in need this Sunday at Han's Bier Haus in the Rice Village, 2523 Quenby St., 77005. There will be live music, food and an auction and will go from 3 till 9 pm.

Blaknwite, Thanks for asking. Skips wife Jan has been using Paypal to accept donations for the Skip Bradley Recovery Fund through her email address jan@bradleymachinery.com.

Heard last night one of the auction items will be a certificate for the Doug Polen's 1 on 1 Riders School.
