MotoGP inside and out

Great story, I caught it late but all I can say is wow.

http://www.bayarearidersforum.com/fo...5&pagenumber=1

A harley (!) mechanic from SF set his goal to work for a motoGP team and flew to Spain at the end of the '05 season in Valencia last year. Left everything behind...girl, job, friends...and just went. The guy just joined a motoGP team as a mechanic for Ducati 2 weeks ago at Mugello.

Long thread but well worth skimming just for the fabulous pics. Great firsthand insight into WSBK and GP racing as well, a moto nut like most of us. Best quote:

"I get a total charge out of inspiring others to follow their dreams and not to fear change. Embrace it. Realize that money isn't the end-all, be-all. What is important, what really has value, is Time. As motorcyclists, we all face increased risks on the road, and on the track. Do something with your time; don't have a bag full of regrets when the train comes to a stop. "

Good stuff

in case you guys haven't been following this, Liam's "wild ride" has taken a wrong turn.( someone has pickpocketed his wallet with basically everything he owned, all of his bill money DL and other i.d.'s) He has since recieved a generous donation from the Bay Area Riders Forum members and is back on his feet. He also picked up a mechanics job for D'antin. Ducati.. This guys dream has come alive for now, at least until the end of the season.

He is wrenching for SIlva, the replacement rider..

I wrote him an email a few weeks ago and he has replied to me. Here it is.

From me,

From him,

Hey James,

Thanks for the kind words. As you can tell, it's a hectic time for me
and due to my travel schedule and sporadic internet access, I haven't
had a chance to reply to everyone. Sorry this comes so late. Tell
your girlfriend not to worry about it too much, because if I can get
people to start thinking outside the box and outside the 9-5 routine
of normal life, maybe we can all do bigger and better things than we
expected of ourselves. Hope everyone gets a kick out of this thread,
I know I am!

Talk to you soon, and maybe see you at Seca,
Liam
