insurance question

so, i have always been insured by progressive, but im always open to a cheaper route...

current rate: $1,657/yr for liability $9,452/yr for liability plus theft
(w/progressive)

geico wanted: $1,985/yr for liability $10,065/yr for liability plus theft

state farm wanted: $2,250/yr for liability $10,500/yr for liability plus theft

Does anyone know anyone cheaper than the big dogs?

Im 21yrs old, bad driving record (tickets), and decent credit.

I need any/all options anyone has. I have to have insurance, but come on someone must be cheaper than this? there has to be some hole in the wall company out there thats cheaper...

Any chance of forgetting the theft and buying a Lo-Jack.

This must be rates for a new bike and hyperbike classification.

Maybe you can enjoy this sport on a lesser bike, until you reach a discountable age.

I feel like progressive only charged me $1 for theft coverage...maybe that was a promotional thing though.

Until you need them and they wont cover stuff because you cheaped out. Your an adult and this will probably hurt your pride, but have you asked your parents and maybe they can put you under their policy? Would possibly be cheaper, you would have good coverage, and you could just pay them. I have State Farm and i pay 90 bucks a month for full coverage with double the lowest allowed coverage. Do you have a car? You may be able to get a multi car discount. Also they take your zip code into consideration since they also base rates off of crime rates for your specific area.

Riddle me as to how this would work on a MOTORCYCLE policy with me as the only driver?

holly cow, that's expensive. I'm still under 25, and I've about every tickets I could get. ( not proud at all.) Even arrested for wreckless driving. You're liability cost like double what mine is for full coverage.

I have the same fee. I don't know what it means, but it definitely says $1. Dunno that they would pay up if it was stolen, though.

I don't have any health insurance since I'm an unemployed full-time student, so I added medical to my liability insurance and I paid $177 for the year with Progressive.

I say you should call around to every single insurance company around until you find a price you're happy with. But I also remember a time when I was under 21 and had tons of speeding tickets and my auto insurance was more than my car payment. So, again, thank I'm old and not wreckless anymore.
