I used to do it too. Illegal though. And I got a nail in the tire once from all that sh*t on the shoulder lane.

I think Lynx Rider got a ticket for lane splitting about a month ago. Not legal.

I think we've established that it's illegal.

You can only drive on the shoulder if you're passing a disabled vehicle, allowing a car to pass, or passing a vehicle that is turning left.

no sir, it was not about me. but i asked about the legality of riding on the feeder but your answer was about a 18 wheeler instaed of just answering the question.

speaking about tough hides, if i did not have that, you would have had my for dinner just like you love to do to others.

i am just saying you are a who with 10 years of riding experience cannot bring himself to answer a straight forward question in a straight forward manner because you are too busy pushing you head up your .

i guess i did get my answer through your "i'm the bearer of all knowledge" douchebaggery kind of response.

Racer X, i have all the tough skin you need to pratice your toolery on but you would be so helpful people if you would give a simple answer for a simple question

Wrong! 12 years of riding and I have never done it. It's not worth the risk.

Correction, I was arrested and spent the weekend in jail for it. I was going about 5 mph past cars to the front of a light. The charge was "passing in a no passing zone" even though the cop wanted to charge me with reckless driving (the DA wouldn't accept it).

So ,I'd advise against it.

Good ...I didn't know you could get arrested for it.
That just seems ridiculous.

Like others have said...when the bike is getting hot...the lane splitting begins; otherwise, I'd advise against it.

Sorry, I've only done it once in the last 10 years (major wreck/traffic stopped/bike overheating). Generally too dangerous and I don't see the point.

But I do sit on the safety board that has advised against legalizing it.

You can be arrested for anything in Texas EXCEPT speeding or open container.

Lane splitting is normally used on the west coast when traffic is stopped, and the bike moves up in position. This is economical, more healthy, better for traffic. What happens here is splitting the lanes between moving traffic, weaving through to maintain a higher speed than the law allows, and endangering other drivers' attention and safety, which instantly becomes reckless driving, or failure to maintain your lane. In other words - stupid driving.

Land splitting is not allowed or disallowed in Texas. Reckless driving is up to the police, and probably subjective. Switching more than one lane at a time can be ticketed the same way, as I understand it.

So - lane splitting is not illegal. Being a fool and disregarding other people's safety is.

haha. amature. How did you get caught splitting lanes. did the cops car shrink through the middle after you.

on another note. Motorcycle laws should be written on motohouston and passed on to the state. We have a lot of smart people.

Point is. HAS ANYONE GOTTEN A TICKET AND IT SAID LANE SPLITTING on the offense
