I have been waved around things by motor cops, waved at when I've passed them giving a cager a ticket (and it was obvious I was exceeding the speed limit), invited to follow on the shoulder in bumper-to-bumper traffic and other courteous things.

Granted, these things have always been done by motorcycle cops. The ones in the cars have run the gamut from disinterested to Eric Cartman...
