similar results from the MAIDs report

and Hurt also commented later that he believes the data is still relavent today as they were 30 yrs ago.

the only reason more older riders were dying was sheer numbers of cruiser riders. age wise younger riders are dying at a a higher %.........

found this for the state of washington

http://www.dol.wa.gov/about/reports/mototaskforce.pdf

pg 10 has death according to ages

21-25 y.o. is the highest #

then on pg 17, it concludes that 86% that died had not taken a rider course

but i'm sure tx riders are better. right?

http://www.avvo.com/legal-guides/ugc...ent-statistics

"The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) recently released new statistics showing that motorcycle fatalities have increased for the seventh year in a row. With more than 1,000,000 motorcycles being purchased each year (this figure has increased each of the past 14 years), the additional number of riders has resulted in fatalities increasing at an alarming rate of 89% from 2,116 in 1997 to 4,008 in 2004. The numbers reflect that the average age of these riders is 20-29, with speeding being the number one cause of these fatal accidents"

http://www.motorcycleaccidentlawoffi...tatistics.aspx

•According to the CHP, the age group with the highest number of motorcycle injures are people between the ages of 15 and 24 with 2,381 injuries and 82 deaths, followed by people ages 25-44 with 2,364 injuries and 86 deaths.

http://www.bikersrights.com/states/c....html#EXHIBIT1

"Analyses of statewide accident trends show that total motorcycle accidents have dropped 67% since the introduction of the CMSP ( CA motorcycle safety program), with a drop of 88% among the under-18 riders for whom training has been mandatory since 1988."

CA and FLA have the highest #'s of death, TX # 3

was he in front of you and u turned without signaling? or was he on the other side (oncoming) and then was uturning onto your side and didnt see you?

But then at the same time, people say, well you could have avoided that situation (like a car changing lanes and not seeing you in the lane next to him) by going slightly faster than traffic.

SIGH**** I have a headache now.

OP, glad you're relatively ok.

Hope the cops can find that person that didnt stop to render aid.

Update us on how it all goes and how you're healing up.

Best of luck.

(Oh and like AJ said, I also try to learn from others experiences. I've always been a little too confident on Allen Pkwy. Maybe it's time to tone it down.)

well according to the almighty racer x, you either ride behind them or in front of them.

last i checked you usually have to pass them to be ahead of them or they have to pass you to be behind them yet he is "never" beside a car

WTF are you people doing up at 2-3am feeding X!?

You know he enjoys it and MFing him doesn't hurt his feelings.

If you take something away from what he said, great, if not, don't feed him...

There is a police report, Unfortunately all I gave the cop was my license and insurance, and the guys license plate, my buddy that came to ride my bike home for me talked to him after I left in the ambulance. I gave my legal representation the public data printout of the license plate info for the dude that hit me, he says all we have to do is wait for the police report, I'm kind of curious to see what it says myself. We'll find out soon enough.

We have a word for people like racer x on every other board I frequent, they're called trolls... Don't feed the trolls people. Racer X great for you, I'm so happy that you can quote what other people have written, wow, that's so awesome, you kick at google, congratulations.

I still think you have a point, but are you annoying.

You should contact the police and an attorney. My understanding is that hit and run charges are appropriate when there is a personal injury. Keep track of all your bills.

Many have said it before, and I'm just now starting to understand why, there's a time and a place for everything. If you ride in a manner which is not suitable for the street, it will undoubtedly catch up with you. I'm not willing to die for a brief moment of fun.
