Help! Unknown miles on bike..?

Okay guys/girls, quick question. I am looking at a bike that is for sale and apparently has been laid down. The owner replaced the fairings and damaged parts.

Problem is the digital gauge is out and there is no way of telling how much mileage it has. Owner does have the title though, which states it had 2500ish miles on it when it was sold to him( about 2 months ago). He claims it should have 4500ish miles on it now, which is believable for 2 months worth of riding.

What threw me off was when I originally asked him, he said 25k miles. I then said "oh wow, thats a lot of miles, thanks anyways". THEN he threw me texts saying he meant 4500ish miles.

Now assuming the bike is in good mechanical condition, should I take this deal or not?.. He claims he is having a child and he is willing to negotiate even lower..

Thanks in advanced!

contrary to popular belief he is not the only mechanic in town. Maybe the best but not the only one. What side of town you on?

If the title says it had 2500 miles on it 2 months ago then it is inlikely he rode 22500 miles since then.
He probably just made a mistake in his text. Take it to a reputable shop let them check it out and then don't worry about it anymore. Even if it has 25,000 miles it doesn't mean it's worn out. My bike has 22,000 and still runs great.
