Dealership Question

So im debating whether to buy a new bike or not and one of my options is to buy a new ninja 250 from a dealership, but ive never bought a bike from a dealership before. so i was just wondering what fees came along with buying a new bike( tax, title, etc, etc).

And the 250 runs about $4000 new, how much do u think is negotiable if any....

any suggestions or pointers would be cool

aint much mark up on a new 250. Check how much the factory rebate is from kawasaki or find a used 250 for less money

i was in a dealership once with some friends. my friend asked how much for the 250r. salesman had a slip of tongue and told us $3k even though its supposed to be $4k. He told us he'd give it to us for the $3k, but the friend that was actually looking for a bike didnt want it.

I rarely recommend buying a new bike.

Especially as a first new bike. my 250 was purchased for 2k, w 633mls on it (08 model gtr)

Only buy new if you can pay cash. Otherwise buy used and still pay cash.

My .02 anyway.

Chances are that you are going to drop your bike and when you hurt a brand new bike for which you're still paying it hurts a lot.

dont throw your money away at the stealership.

you are going to be on and off that 250 in 6 months to year at most. i know your going to want to get all attached to it and sentimental, being a first bike and all but dont. get a used one. dont even get the newest gen 250, get the older one. then for the next 6 mo to a year you can save more money and buy whatever bike you want long term. also...buy that one used.

ive worked at two stealerships, and trust me those places are designed to screw you over as much as possible in every imaginable way. ways you wouldnt even think about. they do everything they can to hook you in, and catch you off guard. get you feeling all nice and excited until you sign the paperwork....at that point all the promises that werent on paper go out the window, and all the ones on paper reveal the fine print.

SO NOT WORTH IT.

I bought my bike new. I work for a car dealership. I dont know why people get so bent out of shape with dealerships. If you are not dumb youre not going to get jacked around with.

^ agreed, the "stupids" get jacked around with which give the dealerships the name stealerships. They are only stealerships if you let them be. Remember, stupid hurts.

The 500 I referenced is a better all around bike than either of those two for a just a bit more. Just my 0.02.

the thing is that you know when to buy new or not. As folks have said earlier a first bike makes more sense bought used, i would listen to them. Once you are addicted the question becomes mute. If you have to have it, you have to have it. New and pay a premium, no problem. There is no such thing as buyers remorse on two wheels when it is the stonkin' machine you have to have.

buy used. dew it. just dew it. buy used.

You can get a good used bike for half the price of new. And you'll still love it. =)

do some research and homework to find out if there are any factory incentives. ask up front before you're ready to buy what their documentation fees are. shop dealerships. find a forum for your particular bike and ask posters what kind of deals they got
