I dont understand his mentality at ALL....

He gets smacked down by his superiors - he just finds a new statute. He gets smacked down by the courts, he keeps doing it anyway.

You'd think he'd get the hint after still being on traffic duty after 30+ years, and not even a shift supervisor at that...

Again, while they can physically force you to get in the car, they do so without legal authority under many circumstances.

No i didn't. In fact, nobody has given the police ANY rights. They have authority and power, but no rights.

Fine distinction, but you really need to consider the implications.

I have the absolute right to question an officer's actions - which means I have the freedom to do so without fear of being prosecuted.

The officer has the AUTHORITY to arrest me for certain behaviors - but asking him to tell me what the he pulled me over for is NOT one of those behaviors.

print out this case and take it with you to the lawyer. it sets a pattern of behavior and exact guidelines for which an individual can be arrested.

Maybe the media IS the answer. If one of the investigative reporters was willing to look into the issue (all he/she would have to do is read this thread) it might show a pattern of behaviour that has lasted for way to long.
I mean a single officer, obviously targeting a small group of citizens would look bad.

More importantly it might just sell some commercials (which is what it's all about)

Don't think we will get much support from the broader community on this. Probably need to come up with our own solution.

Maybe not, but if they painted the picture right...

Imagine the anchor saying,
"A single cop on a years long crusade to bring grief to bikers. Illegal arrests, issuing tickets without proof of violations, censure from superior officers all part of another day on the beat with Officer Holtsclaw. Details right after this message..."
