Apparently....

Telling Officer Holtsclaw that your pipes are 100% legal and you'd like to see the dB meter reading defining how he determined they are too loud is a good way to get yourself a trip downtown.

Yeah - i got to spend Saturday night as a guest of the City of Houston because I told Officer Dredd, er, Holtsclaw that my pipes are 100% legal and I'd like to know how he determined they were illegal. At that point - i was told to place my hands on the car and told I was being arrested for .....illegal pipes.... Upon reminding him that equipment violations are not an arrestable offense, the charge was changed to - get this - "resisting arrest". When I reminded him it was perfectly legal to question, and if necessary, resist an illegal arrest, it was changed - once again - to "Interfering with the duties of a public servant".

Oh yeah - was also told that "people like me need to learn that we are not in charge around here..." I guess questioning his authority is something he takes serious offense at.

Hope so - it was loud enough to be caught by the dash cam/mic.

I also made it explicitly clear to him that the dashcam tape better not somehow show up as corrupted/missing/etc...

Tried to record on my phone but before I could get the phone out, i had a taser drawn on me.

Well If that is really how it went down, you were the perfect person to get arrested, knew your rights and hopefully compliant enough to get someone taken down notch, too bad it takes a mistake to allow for correction.

Well...compliant "enough" is subjective. I dont appreciate being treated with an attitude and I have a bad habit of not being meek and scared in the face of the almighty HPD. However, there was no resistance - and in fact i pleaded with him to allow me to remove my jacket so he could actually get the cuffs on.

He of course ignored this - and obviously his 30+ years experience riding motorcycles never taught him that armored leather makes it very difficult to get your hands behind your back...

Very uncomfortable too, had to sit in the back of the cop car for twenty minutes full gear except helmet in midsummer I finally head tap the glass and asked him to turn on the car or roll the window down.

I actually couldnt get in the back of the car. Im not a huge guy but I'm pretty broad shouldered, and I couldnt turn enough to move my legs in. Had to wait till his supervisor arrived at which point they allowed me to remove the jacket.

Personally I think we should get a big ole group of people and ride through his area all at once....virtually begging him to attempt to pull us over...and make sure there are photographers and cameras and all manner of documentation in attendance.

It would sure be fun to see Officer Dredd attempt to enforce the ordinance against 100+ bikers at once...
