Sat May 1st - Benefit Ride

I am going on a benefit ride this weekend to support a local ranch that works with handicapped kids... The ride will probably mostly be old farts on harleys, but I'd like to make a showing from the sport bike community...

It's $15 to go on the ride... it's a short one.. maybe 150 miles total... start in Waller, ride up to magnolia, over to chappel hill/brenham area, then down to monaville, and then back to waller... each stop is probably a 30 minute or so meet and greet... and then there's free bar-b-q and such back at the ranch after the ride... It's not going to be the most exciting ride you've ever done, but it's for a good cause... the proprietors are friends of mine... check out the the website.

Looks live you've got the reverse route. Their site says they start in Magnolia and end in Waller

I'll meet in Magnolia, if others in my area wish we can meet at PP69 and head over.

I'll get the admin fee and provide FG sticker to any Forest Gnome that comes.

Thanks Dave... I knew I could count on the hardcore M&G folks to help out... If it's anything like the regular weekend rides, it'll be a big turn out.

Thanks again bro,

Yeah... I was going to meet Kim and Dave (the folks who run the ranc) at their place and follow them up. Dave has an old school shovel head on a rigid mid 60's frame that is absolutely SICK!!! (if you're into choppers). It's about the only Harley I've ever seen pull away from a super sport... He's got some power coming out of it...

Cali, if you'll PM me to remind me where PP69 is, I'll meet you guys there and ride over to magnolia with Y'all.

Bevo, if you think you'll make it, we can play leap frog on the up there (you make a pass, I make a pass, etc... it's a good way to kill time on the freeway and it keeps your reflexes in check and your head on a swivel looking for cars so you don't get complacent and ultimately flatter than when you first started out).

If we get bored with the Harley folks, we can always make our own route to each Meet spot... they're all out in the sticks, so there's plenty of back roads any way we choose to go...

I broke the master link on my chain on the way home today... bike started acting really funny and "lurching" and I could hear something rubbing... I guess the master link got a kink in it (or something)... and it snapped on 1458... only had to push it home about 2 miles though... thank gawd for small miracles...

Does anyone have a 525 or 530 chain with at least 110 links "spare" in their garage... I just need something to get me by for a couple weeks until I order a sprocket and chain set when I get paid... Otherwise I'll be asking SG to take me two up on my own ride... I've never ridden "bych" before... that could be kinda funny...

We need to be in Magnolia at the spot between 9:30 and 11:30... if we want to rsvp, when we get a final tally, I'll shoot them an email (that way they know how much food to buy... I think the bar-b-q sandwiches and sodas are free back at the ranch... or they were last time when we got rained out). If we're trying to get there at say 10:30 to 11:00 then we need to be at PP69 by 9:45 (ish)... yes/no??? So we'd need to leave houston by 9(ish) assuming of course this will be a "slower" paced ride since we'll be in the city limits with all of those H-town Po-Pos...

http://morninggloryranch.org/Docs/Benefit%20Ride.pdf

That has all of the pertinent info for us. I checked out the 1st stop... it's way out in the middle of no where north of chappel hill and brenham... then we're coming back down towards my place (hopefully on back roads, because 290 is boring as ) and then up to waller (which is a short ride from monaville... like literally 15 minutes) and then the ranch is about another 5 minutes from there.

I'm really appreciative of y'all signing up for this, and I know David and Kim will be glad to have us out there... they're great people.

Johnny

Quick update... for anyone keeping up with the minor details... I ordered a chain and sprocket set from "sprocket center dot com" ($170 delivered, not bad for a 525 o-ring chain and 2 new sprockets)... they say 2-4 days delivery... so if I'm riding saturday I'll probably need to figure out a way to make this chain I have work or borrow a used one from someone that they have spare... or... I can BEG shimano girl to let me ride on the sissy seat. LOL
