What's the strangest, gorssest or otherwise odd thing you've had happen to you???

OK... SO I'm hearing bikes go by the house all day on R.R. and I'm in the middle of studying for exams... around 3pm, I've had all I can take and gear up and hit the garage... fire up the blue bomber and head out down the driveway...

I'm clicking turns at just the right speeds and I come around a tight right hander and roll through something that was squished recently by a truck... the front tire slides right (into the high side of the turn and the torque sends the back tire back under me (towards the center of the road) ...

I scream obscenities as I'm hurtling towards what I expect to be certain doom... making a whistling noise with my sphincter ...

I do what I was taught to do and stand the bike up straighten it out and apply both brakes firmly but not harshly... and I roll to a stop on the side of the road ... (If I'd have gone 5 more feet I'd have dumped it in the ditch... as it were, I was in the gravel... no idea HOW I managed to not wash the front end out from under me in that mess)... I manage to pull myself together (I honestly thought I shat my pants)... and restarted the bike... and rode home very slooowwwlly...

here's the kicker... When I got home, there's this red, nasty, sticky tar like goop ALL OVER my pants, boots, chin fairing, front tire, exhaust header, radiator, oil cooler... pretty much EVERYTHING in front of the bike is covered in this and it's stringy and sticky and smells like burnt, rotten a$$.

I have seen roadkill out there on 1458 before but usually manage to steer around it... this thing must have been HUGE... because it went clear across a lane of traffic... I saw a lot of other bikers out today and some of them were doing laps... so I'm wondering how much they are going to have to scrape off when they get home...

OK... that's my wacky story ... Somebody top that...

Through the Forest two weekends ago, Manage to come around a corner and there were 3 or 4 cows jus chilling out on the shoulder. No playin chicken with none of them. Now that would be a mess there. Then 3090 behind anotha kat who thought i need a rock shower. That hurt. Then earlier today a rock to the throat followed by a huge butterfly bout 5 minutes later. Lil hurt at like 120 to the throat.

glad you were able to make it out with just a mess to clean up. between that and the cow, sounds like you need to find a new route.

cow related (but not as crazy as your's johnny)
a few of us ran the forest yesterday, and we were on our way out at dusk. there were a few cows were grazing on the shoulder (maybe the same cows as conroe_gsxrboy). baditalian flew by the cows first with his loud yoshi pipe. the cows spooked & scrambled. i quickly flipped up my tinted visor so i could keep an eye on all the cows and covered my brakes.

gave myself my first tattoo, accidentally. Was washing my car, went to swipe my hand on the lower rear bumper and clipped the exhaust. The carbon build up dyed a 1/2in. line on my ring finger. Still just as visible today as it was given almost 10 years ago.

A group ride a year or so ago there were cats chasing each other across the highway. The cat being chased hit a bike and broke the belly pan - kitteh didn't make it. I'm pretty sure there is video of it on MH.

Grossest? Syvanna's leg after they cut her pants off, or after the muscle flap transfer and skin graft - it's a toss up.

**None of these things actually happened to me, though. I don't have any drama, so I have to get it from other people.

First a reply to this story.
An old girlfriend and I were riding the bike in my avatar out to Lake Travis on 2222 (that used to be one of the awesomest roads in Texas before it got covered in urban sprawl). I blew a turn and we wiped out in the coarse gravel on the shoulder.
Somehow she wound up with, among other roadrash, some asphalt embedded in her elbow. I saw her a couple years ago for the first time in ~20yrs. I started to ask her about it and she smiled and said yep it's still there, holding up her smudgy elbow for proof.

Now on to my own gross story...
I was coming back from a deer lease near Del Rio and west of Brackettville I came up on the scene of a big ol caddy had hit a cow at a high rate of speed. The cow was laying there mostly intact except it's body cavity was hollow. There were guts and blood spread all over the road for 50 feet in all directions. The front of the caddy was smashed and as I eased past the driver was sitting on the bumper of the ambulance, also covered in blood.
As horrible as that was a little while later just before I got to San Antonio the remnants of where an 18 wheeler had hit a cow was all over the other side of the road too. Sort of looked like a one sided starburst, at the end of the rays were chunks of meat.

It was a bad day for cows.
