accel problem

My bike is stuttering in 1st and 3rd up to about 3K rpm. it stumbles like it's not hitting on all cylinders and then rockets away once I pass 3K.

I think this could be a valve issue as I've never had the valves adjusted. any ideas?

all stock. it sat for awhile but it ran great for a year after getting fixed up. just started "misfiring" in the last week. i thought maybe bad gas, but the way it would come on strong at exactly the same point disspelled that idea - and I've run a lot of gas through it. it reminds me of a problem I had with the carbs on my old non-FI bike.

I had the same problems on the 750 took it to Motorcycles Unlimited and they said maybe electrical but it was 2 screws that backed out and went swimming in the gearing!

I also have a somewhat similar problem.

Bike is an 02zx6 with <9k miles.

Mostly on first gear, the bike will accelerate moderately from 3krpm - about 8k then stalls for +/- a second then would accelerate way faster above 8k.

Do my VTaK just kick in on 8k or what? Does this model bikes not have a linear power curve?

I seafoamed mine already... no change. It could just need valve work...

Although having a non linear power curve might be a possibility. I read somewhere that some engines are bad with that.

I had a 600 kawi/carbed and it did the exact same thing as yours. at about 7600 rpm it would bog and then rocket off at 8K. It turned out to be a carb adjustment problem. easy enough fix.
