That's why I asked if it's repairable

As for warranty service, brown has a way with these things I am going to contact the store I bought them from, who provide there own piggy back warranty (read: buyback).

Astars-I've found that the Sidi's might look a little prettier, but the astars are more comfortable and have more protection. Yes, I've crash tested them a few times!

Also, alpinestars can resole them!

I did have the previous version. I agree with you - they weren't that comfortable. Mine creaked and made all kind of noises when I walked too. I was actually going to try a different brand until I was told to try out the Supertech R's .. They're just great. The old AStars felt like a cumbersome boot. These IMO, don't - but they still have all the protection.

Their customer service is top notch as well. I broke one of the lace holders on the inner boot piece (I was used to doing that with the old AStar boot because I needed it so tight to snug up) and they gave me an RMA number right and shipped me a new inner boot no questions asked. I didn't realize with the new ones you don't to crank on the laces to get them snugged up. They just fit right. YRMV.

Its all preferance.. I have a sick pair of Supertech-R's from alpinestar that I love.. never hurt my feet and look great.. to each his own its all a matter of preferance.. I would see what alpinestar will do for you.. but I wouldnt guarantee anything they are a business and the sole wearing out at that spot is well "user error" as for the drawstring any boot repair should be able to help.

I would imagine that warranty would only be good for a defect in the boot.

Dragging anything on asphalt at 70mph would cause it to eventually fail under wear, not due to defect.

If the wear on this boot were to be covered under warranty, can you imagine how many people would wear their boots for 8 months, drag toe, then claim the warranty?

IBM used to warranty there hardware no matter what happened. People would spill sodas on there laptops when they got fed up with them Thats how IBM became #1 in enterprise (at least for a while)...hopefully A* has followed suit for my sake

Call me retarded but I like to drag foot while riding on questionable conditions to judge road conditions (ie: slightly damp road) rather than rely on visuals alone. Its just a light drag for a coupe of seconds ever once in a while...

I especially check road conditions right before I enter a deep and/or fast turn.

UPDATE

I brought it back to the place I bought it from and they contacted A* and told them the sitiuation. A* said they will replace the lace under warranty but they are not sure about the sole of the boot. Either way, my boots have been shipped/RMAed and now it'll take 2 weeks to get them back

No official response back from my email to A*.

well keep us updated. I'm interested in seeing what they say/recommend. Never know when this might happen to my own boots.

SMX-Plus has Pull laces inside the boot, clip around the ankle, and silver thingy on the back of the heel. And it looks like the Rain Boot doesnt have toe sliders...
