Agreed. I've considered picking up a 98-02 several times for touring. My brother had one that he rode the west coast on plus did track days with it.

Some say that they could physically feel when the vtec would engage and it was a distraction when the bike was leaned over going through the turn.
I think they smoothed it out on the newer models and it isn't as noticeable.

They lowered the point in the RPM range where the vtec engages on the newer models to make it easier to keep the engine in vtec range.
I've been considering picking up a left over '07 for a while now.
They got some great deals going right now.

Honda claims that running on two valves at low rpm increases torque while running on 4 valves at higher rpms increases power

I rode one in the hill country that had the aggressive vtec. Wasn't even an issue really, just keep it above the rpm when it kicks on and let'er rip . I thought it was really easy to get comfortable with, I actually kind of liked it!

I don't think you understand the point of vtec. It doesn't give you EXTRA power, per se, its just that one particular cam profile is not ideal for all rpms. So vtec gives you two different profiles....ones that makes better power at low rpm, and one that gives better power at high rpm.

Spealing of VFR's. I just saw a new one at Wild West. Front is a little different, but the rest of the bike looks a LOT better in person than the magazines.

Very nice.

Sexy!

Ween LOVEd his VFR- he sold it back to Jack after about a year, though, because he wants to buy the new one. I don't think I've heard bad things about it - and after reading all the comments it still seems like a great bike.

Variable Valve Timing Electronic LIft Control = VTEC, not for power but more for valve acutation. Single sided swingarms are the hotness
