I love the 2010 Z1000 looks, anyone buy one yet? I am considering this for my next bike. Owner feedback on likes and dislikes would be great. Thanks

I don't own the 2010 but I do have an 03 for sale.

The 2010 does look like a beast and it has about 100cc more engine then the older models as well

I was never a big fan of the original Z1000, but the new one looks sick! If i were in the market for a naked bike it would be at the top of the list. The Motorcycle magazine I read a few months back had nothing but good things to say about it. Their only concern for it's success is the poor motorcycle climate here in the states. Naked bikes have never been big sellers here so I hope it has a fairly successful first year.

Sorry I'm slow to respond. I love my bike because it has lots of usable power. Last time I had it on the dyno it was 122Hp and it sounds great.

The handeling is just fine and holds its own out in the forest and any other roads I've been on including Deals Gap.

It is a very comfortable seating position for longer rides but aggressive enough to be able to move off the seat for the twisties.

Insurance is cheaper because it doesn't have the fairings and is considered a naked sport bike not a superbike.

The only thing I'll say is there is much less wind protection then a fully faired bike so after 300-400 miles the wind will get annoying.

In the 14k miles Ive put on it I have been nothing but happy with this bike.

If you have any specific questions let me know and I'll do my best to answer them.

I've been thinking about pickin one up, they just look sick and you dont see one every other bike like your typical ninja, gsxr, cbr and so forth.

This was one of the bikes I was eyeing before I got the zx6. If the zx6 deal didnt come, I would probably be sitting on a z1k.

Have never ridden on one but an issue I can see is wind protection.

The wind thing isn't bad until 130 or so. even then if your tucked you still have a little bubble from the front faring. Biggest thing is the bike is bashing through the air instead of cutting through it so top end on naked bikes is more limited.

Ive done 500+ miles in a day several times and regularly do 300+ and its not until the end that I notice it.

the wind resistance isnt that bad, its great for commuting i have the 06, just make sure they fixed the vibrations in the newer models. it was supposed to be fixed in the 07's but i havent ridden any other models. its really annoying.

other than that its solid, you can tuck down behind the bubble and it works fine at stupid speeds (trust me its fine) but it doesnt have the plastics to cut the wind like other bikes do so it wont be the equal to say a ninja1k or something. im totally happy with it though, handles excellent.

i was actually at the dealership to buy a z1k just before they pulled them in 2008......... LOVE THE BIKE.............. looks great and the power is there. The only issue I had with it, and this was only compared to the zx14 that i ended up getting, was that it wasnt as comfortable on longer/higher speed trips. But that being said i would still love to get one and would think anyone would be happy with it.

it does have a diffrent compression ratio than the other kawis sports bike though......... typ your looking at 12:0:1 and 12:9:1 but with the z1k your looking at 11:8:1

I'm not a kawi fan at all. But the z1000s are sexy bikes. I really like them.

They added a countershaft to help with the vibration. If they had the same deal on them as the 6 when I bought it, I would be riding a z1000 now.

I really want to ride one before I decide to pull the trigger and sell my beloved V-ROD. Someone buy one and let me ride it. I'll let you ride your pick of my 3 bikes.
